Persephone 1 – Great Goddess
€145.00 – €1,395.00
Persephone 1
Persephone, is Demeter’s daughter and represents the maiden phase of womanhood and the springtime of the year, thereby linking the yearly cycle with the ages of mankind. Her symbols represented here are the lilly and the pomegranate. The lilly is traditionally associated with the underworld, death and purity. The pomegranate is traditionally associated with the underworld, immortality and fertility. Here Persephone is shown crowned as the queen of the underworld after eating the food of Hades, the pomegranate, which binds her half the year in Hades domain. Her name is written in Norse runes behind her, binding her name to her image and powers.
Persephone was banished to the underworld for half of the year where she must stay with her husband the god of Hades. During this time the plant life dies, winter reins and it is not until she returns to the upper world that spring and fertility will come back to the world.
