The protagonist inhabits a world that is only half real, half dream and all illusion. She struggles through a world of her own imagining, a battle, a quest, lost in her own private dreamscape. She brings tidings, news, proclamations but who will hear her message?
This painting is a variation upon an old theme. I have made many works that inhabit the space where plane and form intersect. I like to play with the dynamics of the rounded and the flattened, rhyming to the eye that so wants to see shape and space where there is only paint. What is in, is out and what is out is only sometimes in. The spaces lie and the shapes deceive. As a painter I trick and giggle into my palette. Down here I am God.
